Rebecca
Director of Legal | Enrolled Agent
Rebecca’s tax career began in 1992, when she started preparing tax returns for her uncle’s small business consulting firm. A detective at heart, she quickly discovered that she loved digging into the details, solving problems, and finding the best possible outcome for clients while staying firmly within the law.
In 2014, Rebecca became an Enrolled Agent, allowing her to take that passion even further by representing taxpayers before the IRS. Over the years, she has found her greatest professional satisfaction in helping people navigate difficult tax situations and move beyond the stress and burden that tax problems can create.
Today, as Director of Legal at Practical Tax Solutions, Rebecca helps ensure that current tax law is properly applied throughout the firm while providing her knowledge and experience on some of our more complex cases. She continues to live by one of the most important lessons her uncle and mentor taught her: never stop learning.
Away from the world of tax law, Rebecca is happiest spending time with her family. She is married to her best friend, David, is the proud mother of two daughters, and now has three grandchildren to spoil.
She is also an avid crocheter, and you’ll rarely find her without a project in the works. After more than three decades of untangling complicated tax problems, it only seems fitting that in her free time, Rebecca prefers her knots to come with yarn.
Jessica
Case Management Director
Jessica brings more than a decade of experience in the tax industry, beginning her career in 2012 as a tax analyst. Over the years, she has gained extensive experience in tax preparation, case management, client relations, human resources, and systems administration, giving her a well-rounded understanding of both the technical and personal sides of helping clients with their tax needs.
As Case Management Director at Practical Tax Solutions, Jessica works closely with clients throughout their cases while also playing an active role in tax preparation. She helps ensure clients understand what is needed, their returns are prepared accurately and efficiently, and each case continues moving forward through the appropriate stages.
A Florida girl at heart, Jessica considers Florida home and loves everything about the sunshine and coastal lifestyle. When she’s away from the office, crafting is her life. She especially enjoys embroidery and is happiest when she has a creative project in her hands.
And, of course, there’s Sylvie, her German Shepherd and best friend, who is rarely far from her side and proudly serves as one-half of the Practical Tax Solutions Emotional Support Team.
Summer
Executive Case Manager
Summer brings more than eight years of experience in the tax industry to Practical Tax Solutions. Her dedication to her clients and ability to navigate complex tax matters quickly earned her a leadership role, becoming an Executive Case Manager within her first year with the firm.
Today, Summer works closely with clients throughout their cases, helping keep the process organized, understandable, and moving forward. She also brings extensive experience working with truck drivers and owner-operators, helping clients navigate the unique tax situations that come with life on the road.
When she’s not working, Summer has a passion for finding her next adventure in the Florida sunshine. From kayaking and exploring the coast to discovering new restaurants and hidden local favorites, you usually won’t find her too far from the ocean.
Most importantly, Summer is the proud mom of a smart and talented young artist, and being a mom is one of the roles she treasures most.
Matthew
Executive Tax Specialist
A Michigan native turned Floridian, Matthew traded cold winters for sunshine and has happily made Florida home. His professional career began at Merrill Lynch, where he spent five years before discovering an opportunity to use his experience in a different way—helping people navigate the often complicated world of taxes.
With more than 15 years of experience in the tax industry, Matthew has built his career around helping clients understand their tax situations and finding a path forward when things feel overwhelming. After years in the industry, he and his wife took a leap of faith and founded Practical Tax Solutions, creating a firm centered around making professional tax help more approachable and accessible.
Today, Matthew serves as an Executive Tax Specialist, bringing his years of knowledge and experience to both the clients and team at Practical Tax Solutions.
While Matthew genuinely enjoys his work, his favorite way to unwind is gardening. When he’s not talking taxes, you’ll likely find him outside tending to his garden, working on his latest project, and enjoying the Florida sunshine.
Jose
Senior Tax Specialist
Jose brings more than 10 years of customer service experience to his role as Senior Tax Specialist at Practical Tax Solutions. His easygoing personality and ability to connect with people help create a comfortable experience for clients, especially when navigating tax matters that can sometimes feel anything but simple.
Jose believes there is always more to learn and is continually looking for ways to expand his tax knowledge and sharpen his skills. He enjoys the challenge of the ever-changing tax world and takes pride in continuing to grow both personally and professionally.
Outside of work, Jose is happiest spending time with his wife, playing soccer, and enjoying time with Winston, his Scottish Terrier and best buddy. A longtime soccer fan, he still loves getting out on the pitch whenever he gets the chance.
For Jose, a good day is pretty simple: family, soccer, Winston, and maybe no tax notices in the mailbox.
Alexys
Tax Preparer
You could say taxes have always been a part of Alexys’s world. As the daughter of an Enrolled Agent, she grew up with a front-row seat to the tax industry and has turned that early exposure into a career of her own.
Now a Tax Preparer at Practical Tax Solutions, Alexys brings a positive attitude, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to help people to every return she prepares. She is always continuing to build her tax knowledge and takes pride in helping clients feel a little more comfortable during a process that isn’t always known for being fun.
Outside of the office, Alexys’s favorite role is being mom to her two children. And when she’s not working or enjoying time with her family, there’s a good chance a little Disney magic is involved. A true Disney connoisseur, Alexys loves all things Disney and is always ready for the next opportunity to make some magical memories with her family.
For Alexys, family, a little pixie dust, and a well-prepared tax return can solve just about anything.
Kim
Case Manager
Kim brings eight years of experience in the tax resolution industry, along with a professional background in Human Resources. A natural people person, Kim genuinely enjoys connecting with others and helping them through situations that can sometimes feel overwhelming.
She has found that Case Management is where she feels most at home—guiding clients through the resolution process, answering their questions, keeping their cases moving forward, and making sure they feel supported along the way. Her combination of industry experience and genuine compassion makes her a natural fit for working one-on-one with clients.
Outside of work, Kim has an especially big heart for animals. She volunteers her time supporting local TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) efforts, helping community and feral cat colonies live longer, healthier lives.
Whether she’s helping a client through a difficult tax situation or looking out for a neighborhood cat, Kim has a habit of taking care of those who need someone in their corner.
Winston & Sylvie
Emotional Support Team
Winston and Sylvie are proud members of the Practical Tax Solutions Emotional Support Team. While they may not hold any tax credentials, they take their responsibilities around the office very seriously.
Winston, our Scottish Terrier, specializes in supervision, snack management, and making sure no one works too long without taking a break. Small but mighty, he firmly believes every meeting could be improved with treats.
Sylvie, our German Shepherd, serves as Head of Office Security and Morale. She keeps a watchful eye on the team, provides emotional support during the busiest parts of tax season, and takes her responsibility for protecting the office very seriously.
Together, Winston and Sylvie help remind us that even when dealing with taxes and the IRS, there should always be room for a little joy.
Their professional qualifications include unconditional support, excellent listening skills, superior treat detection, and absolutely no interest in reading the Internal Revenue Code.
